I started using AutoCAD since R14. At that time already had paperspace AutoCAD (or for the young ones called layout), but the use of modelspace still very common. Some other advantages are using sheet set fields. Sheet set has several properties that allow text automatically appears in the title block. Such as project name, no paper, etc.. Even you can create a table of contents images automatically.
